WBC Policy on Payments to Scholarship Winners

  • Scholarship winners must be a US citizen or permanent resident
  • Scholarship winners must be enrolled in a 4 year accredited college
  • Scholarship winners must take a full load of classes as defined by their school
  • Scholarship winners must maintain a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Scholarship winners must send the WBC their academic transcripts each semester
  • Scholarship winners must maintain open and regular contact with their mentor
  • Scholarship winners must notify the WBC immediately any time one or more of the above conditions are not met.

Special Circumstances:

  • Any time a semester GPA drops below a 3.0, the scholarship winner will be put on warning status. To be on warning status and still get the scholarship funds, the mentee must contact her mentor or a member of the Community Outreach leadership committee* to discuss issues and work out a specific action plan to bring up her GPA. Funds will be released only after this conversation has taken place. Scholarship winners will be removed from warning status once their semester GPA returns to a 3.0 or higher.
  • Any time the cumulative GPA goes below 3.0, the scholarship winner will be put on probation and scholarship money will be withheld. If payment has already been made, the withholding will take place during the next semester. Payments will continue to be withheld until the cumulative GPA goes back up to at least 3.0. If the cumulative GPA does not return to 3.0 or higher within 3 semesters, the WBC may decide to withhold all future funds.
  • If the scholarship winner does not take a full load of classes, the scholarship money will be withheld the following semester until a full load is resumed.
  • Fall payment decisions will be made only after the previous years transcript has been received.
  • Termination from the scholarship program will occur if the scholarship winner is not a US citizen or permanent resident, is expelled from or drops out of her college or university.

* The Community Outreach leadership committee consists of: Committee co-chairs; Scholarship Chair; Mentoring Chair; Jobs Chair; and Charitable Giving Chair.
